A Sweet Finish

Sweet as sugar that is.  I joined up with the Sugar Block Club with Amy (who is also sweet and oh-so-talented) at Stitchery Ditchery Dock.  Each month is a new block pattern and a recipe for a sweet treat.  I have been wanting to play with some of Lecien's lovely fabrics and their sweet, vintage vibe seemed perfect for this adventure.

These are from a collection called Princess Rose.

To keep it from being too pastel, I am throwing some red and aqua into the mix and of course
some more polka dots!!

Here we have Kona in Robins Egg, Tasha Noel's Simple Life, Makower UK and Essential Dots by Moda.
I have used the black and cream dots as my background fabric.  Did you know that a uniformly spaced dot becomes a neutral and blends in whereas a randomly spaced dot stands out? It's true, test it out!

This is the first time I have done a block of the month where I don't know what the completed quilt will look like.  It is weird - usually I have a vision of what it will all look like in the end.  So with this, I just have
to trust my instincts and hope the separate blocks end up as a cohesive quilt!!

2013 Sugar Block Club

That's my only thing finished for today, unless you count that I finally got all the Christmas decorations put away and dug myself out from a pile of paperwork (seriously, it was so bad that I accidentally paid the same bill twice -- who does that??)

I'm linking up today with Crazy Mom Quilts and here:

Hope you all have a cozy weekend,

Tessa Marie

  1. Oooh this sounds like a great sew along, your block is just lovely. I love your fabric choices, as always. As for paying the same bill twice, don't do that, pay it once then buy more fabric! ;-)
