I recently took advantage of a 20% off Michael Miller fabrics at fabric.com and purchased some Sarah Jane prints. I love her sweet whimsical designs, modern with a touch of vintage inspiration.
I chose from the girl palette from the Out to Sea collection - pink, raspberry, blue and navy. Half a yard of each will be plenty to make a nice-sized quilt (or two) for a child. I seriously squealed with glee as I unpacked these from the box.
Oh my, how I wanted this border print from the Children at Play collection. I have looked at it so many times, and kept saying no (we can't say yes to all the fabric we want, can we?) But...since it was on sale, I finally said yes and am glad I did.
They had a few of the coordinating prints left, but I am going to try to track down some others in the orange and aqua. So sweet!
Also picked up some of my favorite Madrona Road by Violet Craft prints. The colors are so pretty, these will make a nice addition to the stash.
As I look at this lovely pile of fabric, I want to say that I am grateful to have reached a point in my life where I can indulge a little bit on things that make me happy. In our twenties and thirties, when raising a young family, my husband and I didn't have much money for life's extras. But now, in our forties and fifties, we can sit back, relax a little and enjoy the benefits of many years of hard work. And fortunately, my dear husband is fully understanding of my crazy love of pretty fabrics. For that, I am truly grateful!!

Ooh such pretty bundles! And of course - gorgeous photography! I love seeing how you arrange your fabrics for photos - you show them off beautifully!
ReplyDeleteYou chose beautiful fabrics! Have fun with them very soon! (beyond admiring and fondling)
ReplyDeleteTessa Marie,
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed reading you sentiment on treating ourselves. My husband and did the same. I agree - our forties and up should bring a few "why not's".
These are beautiful, and playful, and have a lot of movement and energy. I've been a big fan of the whales for a while, but they went into my "I love it, but I can't buy everything" pile. I'm glad I can live vicariously through you. Oh, and Madrona Road, that went into my "I love it and have to have it" pile. I was obsessed for a while, and am still hoarding some of the herringbone!
ReplyDeleteI like it when people find the sweets into from a line and pull them out individually so that they sparkle. I love all of your choices Tessa.
ReplyDeleteGreat taste in fabric! I bought a tonne of the Out To Sea fabric and made a pretty range of clothes with them. Thankfully I still have quite a fair bit left over for quilting :)
ReplyDeleteThose are just adorable fabrics!! :o)
ReplyDeleteYou will have so much fun creating with them!!
