Happy Friday!! My boys are away this week, leaving just my daughter and me at home. I had envisioned a week of mad sewing, but haven't done nearly as much as I had planned. I learned that I waste a tremendous amount of time!! I did manage to finish a few W.I.P.'s, including this one. I pieced the top a while back, but have just quilted and binded it. The fabric is Sew Stitchy from Aneela Hoey, including the square embroidery panels that I have featured in some of the block centers.
I think I was drawn to this fabric because of the colors - I love red, aqua, green and pink. The design is simple, no pattern was required. The center squares are 5", surrounded by a 1" frame and a 1 1/2" frame. I like to make the frames a bit big and then trim to size to ensure perfectly matching corners.
I quilted an allover medium sized stipple with my favorite thread - Aurifil 50wt. in white.
It gives such a nice texture to a quilt like this.
For the binding, the scattered pins print in aqua, machine stitched as usual.
And the back is Michael Miller Ta Dot in Lipstick, a very pinky red. I really like the scale of these dots, and it is available in a ton of colors!
The obligatory quilt roll shot...
One more just for fun...
It sure does feel good to have a finished quilt to share, thanks for visiting!!
