My first completed quilt that was quilted on the BabyLock Tiara. It is made from The Sweetest Thing fabric (Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake) and Amy Smart's Seaside Stars pattern.
I chose a simple design for my maiden voyage - an allover meander. I did get a little more adventurous in the outer border and did a wishbone design. The machine was dreamy to stitch on, and with more practice, I think we are going to have a long, happy relationship.
For the back, a polka dot from Moda's Avalon collection and some leftover fabrics from the front.
I used Hobbs Heirloom batting in an 80% cotton, 20% polyester blend. It seems the blend is often preferred by long arm quilters (I am not sure why), and I like the bit of extra loft it produces. There is a nice texture even before washing.
Every now and then, I get the desire to hand stitch the binding down, just to make sure I remember how. I like the clean finish, but not the amount of time that it takes!
This quilt measures 44" square. I was lucky enough to have a willing quilt model today!!
